Fashion Career Resources in Los Angeles Pay Off

Los Angeles has a venerable garment district, a number of top fashion schools, and a media and entertainment culture perfect for fashion design. But those aren't the only benefits that could prove fortuitous for your career in fashion.

Manufacturing and Retail Big in Los Angeles

The manufacturing industry has always had a large presence in Los Angeles. Although fashion design is very artistic and creative, the bottom line is still that designers need people to produce their designs.
The retail industry is also booming in Los Angeles, with a perfect setting for small boutiques and first-time ventures. The costs may be higher than other cities in the country, but the payoff has the potential to be "very LA"--big, flashy, and fabulous. Here are some examples of designers who have used LA to benefit their careers in fashion.

New to Fashion Design? LA is a Good Place to Start

Trina Turk always knew she wanted to be a fashion designer, and after earning her degree from fashion design school in Washington, she moved to the Los Angeles area to plug into the fashion scene there. Now she owns stores in multiple cities, and even though it's been hard, as she told the Pasadena Star-News last year, Los Angeles proved the perfect locale for her career in fashion.
Los Angeles is good for the young fashion designer, too. Karen Noseff, first an attorney in Texas, studied fashion before trying it. She did research on the industry, worked on her own designs, and eventually found a Los Angeles manufacturing company to make her designer jeans. Thanks to the famous city and its industrial roots, her career in fashion has taken its first major step.
Now it's your turn. Consider a fashion design school in Los Angeles, and let your career unfold.
