There is no doubt that Toronto is a great place to begin a career in fashion. The city is home to over 550 apparel manufacturers and over 4,600 retail stores (for a total of $2.6 billion in revenue). Toronto is also home to several top fashion schools, as well as a little thing called "The Toronto Fashion Incubator."

The Toronto Fashion Incubator

A nonprofit group dedicated to launching new fashion careers, the Toronto Fashion Incubator maintains an important presence in the city is by holding seminars and events which target young designers and students. These are designed to help their audience prepare for success in the fashion industry.

Fashion Branding

The Fashion Incubator's current seminar program is called "The Business of Beauty" and features six guest speakers. The seminar will discuss some key fashion marketing concepts, including:
  • Defining brand equity
  • Building brand consistency
  • Using a brand to grow a business
A good brand is the result of many different design and marketing activities, from designing clothing with a recognizable style to expansion into different accessories and even different audiences.
Learning the art and the science behind branding is one of the key concepts of fashion marketing. In a fashion degree program, students learn how to master the business side of the fashion industry.
