Support the "Healthy People 2010" Initiative with an Online Nutrition Degree

The US government's Healthy People 2010 initiative marks nutrition as a primary factor in achieving greater health. An online college degree in nutrition can put you in a position to help America achieve that goal by 2010.

How Can an Online Nutrition Degree Help?

Reading through the list of the 28 focus areas targeted in the initiative, nutrition's role should be obvious. Some of these focus areas include cancer, diabetes, food safety, heart disease and stroke, and oral health. While nutrition plays a part in each of the above areas, it has also been singled out as a key concern in relation to obesity.
With the important role nutrition plays in overall health objectives, it is not at all surprising that, in 2004, dietitians and nutritionists held about 50,000 jobs. It is also not surprising that the field expects above-average job growth through 2014. Enrolling in a nutrition degree program can prepare you for one of these new jobs.

Do I Need an Online College Degree in Nutrition?

In the United States, 46 states require some form of licensure or certification in order to work as a dietitian or nutritionist. One very popular accreditation is the Registered Dietitian credential provided by the American Dietetic Association. The examination is designed for those who complete college degree courses and internships in nutrition.
Do you want to contribute to the success of the Healthy People 2010 initiative? If so, completing your online nutrition degree is a healthy step in the right direction.
