Fashion Inspiration in the Big Apple

New York has been known as a fashion design hub for centuries. Many designers of the modern era have found inspiration and career-building tools in the city's many fashion-ready streets, and new designers and students are still doing it.

New York Fashion Career Building

Famous German designer Karl Lagerfeld once lived in the streets of New York. There he found inspirations for many of the clothing designs that helped make him famous. Now, after decades of successful designing, he has expanded his fashion empire to include affordable clothing designs at international retailer H&M.
Tom Ford, recently the enigmatic Creative Director at Gucci, is fortifying his empire on one of the world's most fashion-conscious streets--Madison Avenue. His new store will showcase his latest clothing designs.

New York Fashion Career Beginnings

These are just two examples of real fashion designers who have used New York to build their careers. Here are some great reasons on why New York is a great place to start your career in fashion:
  • Fashion Schools
New York is home to several world-famous fashion schools. Their instructors are usually designers with industry experience.
  • Fashion District
New York has blocks and blocks dedicated to garments and clothing designs, where fashion students can find all the materials they need to work on their craft.
  • Fashion Network
With world-class fashion shows, fashion weeks, and fashion designers living and working in New York, there is a huge professional network available.
A career in fashion can start anywhere, but for inspiration, great schools, and a career network that can serve young designers and students well, New York is still the place to be.
