From Scraps to Success: Fashion Design Icon Renee Bardot

Fashion designer Renee Bardot used to make dresses from scraps in her father's leather clothing store. Years later, she is a prominent Los Angeles designer with full lines of her own. With a style that's hip, elegant, and also practical, Ms. Bardot has created a niche for herself in a very competitive culture.
How did Renee Bardot come to sell her own fashion designs in stores at the age of twenty? With ambition, of course, and a little help from Dad, her fashion design career started as a little girl.

Fashion Family Beginnings Go International

Renee Bardot's father cultivated her interest in fashion from a young age, when he made her his apprentice of sorts. Her first of many fashion design jobs came during college, when she attended fashion design school in Germany after learning haute couture sewing from her father.
Her fashion design career continued in Amsterdam, where she opened her first store. Then it was back to Germany where she began working with C. Gordon, a legendary fashion designer and member of the German fashion community.
Hawaii and Rio de Janero were other stops on the way to Los Angeles, where Ms. Bardot now has a store on La Brea Avenue. Having held fashion design jobs in several countries and continents, her fashion design career is a great example of the opportunities that are out there if you couple ambition with education.

Fashion Design School

Since fashion-conscious fathers are hard to come by, you may want to consider fashion design school as the way to start your fashion design career. A center of art and design, Los Angeles has a number of options for your fashion design education, not to mention fashion design jobs that await you after graduation. And don't forget the online fashion design school option either.
